Originally from Mobile, AL., Sherrell is what many people would call an Air Force ‘Military Brat.’ Traveling the world with her stepfather, mother, and brother, in 1977 the family finally settled in Montgomery, Alabama, where she graduated from Carver High School in 1981.

Sherrell is an active Real Estate Agent and a Licensed, Independent Insurance Broker with the State of Alabama. She also holds a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation through the National Association of Homebuilders. Sherrell resides in Athens, AL.

Sherrell brings more than 35 years of Sales and Management experience from various positions that she has held in both the public and private sectors. Initially pursuing a degree in Nursing from Tuskegee Institute (Tuskegee, AL.) and Troy State University (Troy, AL.), she completed her education through the accelerated program at Faulkner State University (Montgomery, AL.), where she graduated at the top of her class, obtaining both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Business Management.

For 13 years, Sherrell worked as an Account Executive for Johnson Publishing Company, an international media and cosmetics empire that includes Ebony and Jet magazines, Fashion Fair Cosmetics, and EBONY Fashion Fair. In this position, she managed a multi-million-dollar territory covering the Southeastern Region of Alabama to include the Florida Pan Handle.

Sherrell has also worked in the world of Information Technology (IT) servicing the needs of the Federal Government. During her 19-year tenure, she has held the positions of Senior Functional Analyst, Deputy Project Manager (PM), Configuration Manager (CM), Test Lead, and Test Engineer on several Government projects.
