TYPE A
HOSPITAL COVERAGE
(MEDICARE PART A)
Medicare Part A covers hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and home health care.
TYPE B
MEDICAL COVERAGE
(MEDICARE PART B)
Medicare Part B covers doctors visits, mental health care, outpatient surgery, lab tests, and Medical equipment.
TYPE C
MEDICARE ADVANTAGE

Part C usually offers A, B, and D in one plan and is offered by private insurance companies. Part C is also known as Medicare Advantage.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG COVERAGE

Medicare Part D covers prescription drugs and is only offered by insurance companies. You are required to get Part D or face future penalties.
What Are Medicare Advantage Plans?
A type of Medicare health plan offered by a private company that contract with Medicare to provide all Part A and Part B benefits. Medicare Advantage Plans include Health Maintenance Organizations, Preferred Provider Organizations, Private Fee-for-Service Plans, Special Needs Plans, and Medicare Medical Savings Account Plans. When enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, Medicare services are billed to the plan rather than Original Medicare. Most Medicare Advantage Plans offer prescription drug coverage and may come with extra benefits such as vision, dental, or transportation.
